We typically need volunteers in the following areas: administrative support, outreach and fundraising, activities during legislative sessions, and events during Sexual Assault Awareness Month. Volunteer on the Hotline

To volunteer on the statewide sexual assault crisis hotline, you must become a certified sexual assault crisis counselor in accordance with Connecticut State Statute 52-146(k). To do so, you must complete 40 hours of training at one of our member programs.

Applications are currently being accepted for the fall 2017 volunteer training program at the Rape Crisis Center of Milford. The 40-hour curriculum will include: training and information on sexual assault and sexual violence, crisis intervention and counseling, cultural competency, police processes, forensic evidence collection, mandated reporting, counselor and advocate procedures, court processes, and Connecticut sexual assault statutes.

This training program will run on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6 pm – 9 pm from September, 7 2017 until November 2, 2017. Volunteer applications can be obtained via email or mail from: The Rape Crisis Center of Milford, 70 West River Street, Milford, CT 06460. Applications must be completed and returned no later than Friday, July 28, 2017. The interview process will begin as soon as your application is received and reviewed.

Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age. Volunteers must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. Volunteers must be willing to sign a confidentially agreement upon acceptance into the program. Volunteers are asked to pay a $50 fee to cover the cost of training materials. Bilingual applicants are strongly encouraged to apply.
