The Alliance, the Connecticut Association of Schools’ Connecticut Interscholastic Athletic Conference, and the Connecticut Department of Public Health have partnered to create a media campaign empowering student-athletes in sexual violence prevention. The “We’ve Got Your Back” campaign positions young people who are on sports teams in Connecticut as a vital part of creating safe, respectful cultures both on their teams and in their communities.
With an estimated 45 million youth participating in sports within the U.S., this collaboration highlights the unique opportunity to engage our Connecticut youth athletes, coaches, and team support staff as partners in sexual violence prevention.
Training for both student-athletes and coaching and support staff is provided throughout the year bolstering the confidence and skills of participants to respond supportively to disclosures of sexual harassment or violence, as well as engage in meaningful prevention efforts.
