We are excited to introduce two new summer interns: Erica and Mariyah! We are also happy to announce the return of summer intern Olivia!
Erica is a rising senior at the University of Connecticut. She is double majoring in Political Science and Women’s, Gender, and Sexuality Studies with a minor in Studio Art. Erica is the President of the UConn organization Revolution Against Rape, which is focused on eliminating gender-based violence on college campuses. Erica is an intersectional feminist who is particularly passionate about sexual assault prevention. After graduation, she hopes to work for an organization focused on social justice issues and plans to attend graduate school for public policy. Her hobbies include drawing and watching documentaries about social justice.
Mariyah is a rising second year at Grinnell College. She plans to double major in Political Science and Sociology, and is interested in political advocacy for marginalized communities. Mariyah is especially passionate about sexual assault advocacy and is currently training to become a Grinnell Advocate as part of a student organization that runs a 24-hour hotline on campus for survivors of sexual violence. She will also be leaving us early in the summer to join the Peer Connections Pre-Orientation Program at Grinnell, where she will provide mentoring to incoming students of underrepresented backgrounds such as students of color, LGBTQ+ students and first-generation students. Her hobbies include acting, binge-watching Netflix thrillers and eating.
