News coverage of recent cases of sexual harassment, assault and abuse, both in Connecticut and across the country, has inspired many people to find ways to support survivors. Join us in the movement to end sexual violence!
In this presentation, we’ll explore different ways to contribute to the movement, including:
– Overview of the 40 hour Volunteer Counselor/Advocate Training (CAT) Certification & volunteering directly with survivors
– Outreach volunteer opportunities: engaging the public to raise awareness of the issue and share information about resources for survivors
– Legislative advocacy: Advocating for policy change through legislative testimony and outreach to legislators.
– Victim/Survivor Advisory Council (VSAC): An all-volunteer group of people who identify as survivors themselves or as the parent, partner or loved one of a survivor of sexual violence, who advocate for public policy change and community awareness.
– Other ways to support your local sexual assault crisis center.
