How Youth Sports & Afterschool Programs Can Prevent Child Sexual Abuse

Youth sports and afterschool programs play a unique role in children’s lives, as they can be some of the greatest sources of joy, community, growth, and learning.  The adults who work in and volunteer for these programs also hold enormous responsibility for children’s safety, including recognizing and protecting children from grooming and child sexual abuse. This Sexual Assault Awareness Month, join the Connecticut Alliance to End Sexual Violence for an introductory workshop on the practical steps you can take to make your afterschool program or youth sports program safer for all children.

By the end of this workshop, participants will connect their program’s values to preventing child sexual abuse, understand an array of options for making their program safer for children, and discuss next steps they might take to make their program more prevention-oriented.
